UNIFORM – FOR YEARS 7 – 11

The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act was recently passed on 30th aPRIL 2026. this includes a requirement for schools to ensure that uniforms are affordable for families. We have always been fully committed to meeting this expectation and we have had a fantastic “Unicycle” provision in place for a number of years now. This is our in-school offer of new and previously loved items of uniform available for our students.

We also remain extremely proud of our high uniform standards and the way our students present themselves, both in school and in the local community. We know that our families value and support these standards, and we remain committed to upholding them. Having a school uniform is an important part in creating a community and reduces peer pressure, supports social acceptance and also reduces differences in socio-economic divides in schools.

In light of the new guidance, we are maintaining our high standards of uniform, whilst making the following amendments to our uniform policy.

Compulsory branded items will be limited to three. At Archbishop Blanch, these will be:

  • Trutex school blazer with school badge
  • Navy inverted pleat Trutex skirt or Trutex school trousers
  • Akoa PE top with school badge

The following items will remain available but are now optional;

  • Navy pullover/jumper with light blue stripe and school badge
  • Akoa PE skort
  • Akoa sweatshirt with school badge (for colder weather)
  • School bag with badge (Years 7–9) – durable and excellent value
  • School PE bag with school badge
  • Navy regulation school trousers

All non-branded items must be plain, with no logos or decorative features:

  • Plain navy leggings or plain navy tracksuit bottoms for PE
  • Plain navy socks – no bows or embellishments
  • Plain black or navy tights
  • Plain black or navy hijab

Please note that any items that are not plain will need to be replaced and may result in behaviour points being issued.

We continue to hold “Unicycle” events throughout the academic year, offering families the opportunity to obtain good-quality pre-loved uniform items. We also warmly welcome donations of new or clean, good-quality uniform and PE kit, which can be dropped off at the school reception.

If you require support in obtaining uniform, please do not hesitate to contact us—we are here to help.

Thank you for your support in maintaining our high standards of uniform and engagement in school.

Please note that school reserves the right to judge the suitability of footwear and may ask parents to replace unsuitable shoes.

Girls of the Muslim faith are allowed to wear a plain navy or black head scarf only to cover their hair.

It is essential that any headscarves worn can be safely secured for classes which are potentially hazardous places such as science laboratories, food tech areas, design technology workshops and PE areas.
