The focus for Careers across the school is ‘Who am I? What sort of life do I want? How can I start working towards my kind of life?
The school has an award winning careers rom that keeps strictly up-to-date resources on general information, occupational areas and 6th form advice and guidance. Computers are available to access relevant programmes that school purchases to aid students with their career and course exploration which they can also access from home. The careers co-ordinator is a non-teaching member of staff on hand to answer any student’s query and has IAG Level 4 qualifications. The careers co-ordinator works in conjunction with a variety of external agencies to provide independent impartial IAG.
In the Sixth Form students are asked to identify themselves with one of 4 Pathways to determine action points that the school and they should be following to secure their chosen career or course once they leave compulsory education. School gathers information from the students to make sure that any relevant opportunities are highlighted to them. Students on a 1 year pathway receive 1:1 guidance.
