Year 7 win City Netball Tournament

On Monday 23rd April Archbishop Blanch School hosted the final City Tournament.

After having been postponed due to bad weather before Easter we were determined for it to go on even in the cold and light rain! Both the A and B teams were in action. The A team faced Belvedere and Archbishop Beck in the first round pool and the B team faced Calderstones and King David. The B team lost to Calderstones and drew 1-1 with King David and so unfortunately did not advance in to the Semi -finals. The A team beat belvedere 3-0 and Archbishop Beck 5-1 and therefore had to face Calderstones in the Semi Finals. It was a fantastic game and Archbishop Blanch finished victorious. We then had a nervous wait to see who we would face in the final from the other semi -final game. The weather by this point had become extremely cold and miserable and so the final was to take place in the sports hall. Archbishop Blanch were set to play Blue Coat, reigning champions in the league. The match was tense and play went from end to end both teams defending well. Blanch scored, Blue Coat equalised. In the last few minutes Blanch scored again to clinch the game and win the tournament.

Well done to all pupils that took part, you were fantastic. Here’s to retaining the title next season!
