Year 12’s music composition selected for American Association of Dance auditions
Congratulations to Year 12 Music student Hannah Mattson whose composition, ‘Rock and Roll Within Your Soul’, has been adopted by the American Association of Dance for their upcoming scholarship auditions. This is an annual competition in which several hundred dancers meet to learn the two set pieces for Ballet and Tap in their category. This year’s event took place on the 19th June in Buxton and the dancers will later compete at an event in October in the ball room in Blackpool.
Per Nielson, one of our music technicians, has worked with the AAD's principal choreographer, Anna Scott, for many years, and recently completed a re-recording of their entire ballet syllabus. They meet every year to select and record six pieces for the scholarships. Anna loved Hannah's composition and will use a short version of it to create a brand new dance for the Intermediate Tap category, so her song will be heard regularly for the next five months in dance studios all over the country!
This is a fantastic achievement and we’re so proud of the recognition of Hannah’s talent and hard work. Well done, Hannah!
