A large number of pupils and staff gathered on Friday 7th July for an extraordinary fundraising event! Mr O'Doherty- the 'mystery teacher' who was not revealed until the event- had his locks shaved off by Miss Aitken at break time in the sports hall. The event was hosted in order to raise donations for sending Mr McLaren off to India to help teach refugees in India. It was incredibly encouraging to see such a vast number of pupils and staff attending to support Mr O'Doherty as he went under the clippers! Screams and cheers erupted as Miss Aitken took the first stroke with the razor, and continued until the last strand of hair was gone! Miss Aitken stated she was nervous to do the act, yet her hairdressing skills left Mr O'Doherty as a transformed teacher! A grand total of £275.15 was raised! Such a tremendous total portrays how as a school, community is something we truly treasure, and the art of giving to those in need really exhibits the true nature of our school. On behalf of the Interact team, I would like to say a tremendous thank you to all pupils and staff who supported Mr O'Doherty with his hair shave, and we also wish Mr McLaren the best of luck and safety as he travels to India and supports those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
