On Friday 7th July all staff and students from years 7-10 took part in the second annual Liverpool Maths Party. Pupils were given the opportunity to take part in a number of challenging mathematical activities including producing performances based on famous mathematicians, creating and costing up fashion items and pencil cases, producing amazing mathematical art, completing mathematical science experiments alongside exercising and calculating speed, accuracy and averages at the same time.
We also enjoyed a fantastic mathematical lunch menu provided by the canteen staff including infinity cheese straws, 'fibinachos' and a mathematical treasure hunt over the lunch break. In addition we held competitions for both parents and staff. The winner of the parent’s prize went to Mr N White and the staff puzzle winner was Mr P Wainwright, congratulations to both!
Our aim for the day was to complete mathematical activities in different subjects and gain an understanding of how maths is used across the curriculum in a fun yet challenging learning environment and we definitely succeeded in this. Overall the day was a huge success and we look forward to celebrating it again next year!
