GCSE  results day 

Archbishop Blanch students have performed extremely well in the new and more challenging GCSE qualifications. 84% of grades achieved were at least grade 4 (equivalent to grade C in the previous GCSE measures).

A significant proportion of students secured outstanding success in achieving the highest grades 9-7. In all 37% of all grades were achieved at this level and there were 24 grade 9s secured in English. This contributed to a Progress 8 score of 0.74, placing Archbishop Blanch in the top 10% of schools nationally – this is a new record for the school and represents a wonderful achievement.

94% of students in English and 81% of students in Mathematics achieved a grade 4 or above, and 61% of students achieved a grade 5 or higher in English and Maths.

As well as the results in the core subjects, students achieved extremely well in Religious Education, with 64% of students achieving a grade 9-7. History also performed particularly well with 40% of students also achieving one of the top three grades. Physical Education matched History’s performance and our Performing Arts grades were outstanding with 64% of students achieving one of the highest two grades.

Archbishop Blanch School’s curriculum remains inclusive and broad so that all students are given the opportunity to succeed. The performance of all abilities was very impressive and our top ability students excelled.

Headteacher, Mrs Madeloso, commented: I am so proud of the hard work, dedication and positive attitude of our students this year, which has led to their outstanding results. They were very well supported by our dedicated teachers and their parents who helped them to be so successful at the end of year 11. I would like to congratulate all of our students and look forward to watching them flourish in our sixth form.
