Over the last four weeks 80 of our Year 10 girls have been taking part in their Duke of Edinburgh’s Bronze Award expeditions at Scarisbrick Guide Camp and Charity Farm. During their practice expeditions the girls learned to navigate a planned route using a map and compass as well as to pitch tents and plan and prepare camp meals. They were then observed and assessed on their skills by DofE instructors on their qualifying weekend. Mr McLaren, our DofE Coordinator said: “Our girls have proved again how committed and resilient they are and I was delighted by the feedback from their assessors who commented on their excellent behaviour and manners as well as their willingness to learn new skills. They all faced personal and group challenges and the team spirit they generated was a joy to see. I am incredibly proud of every one of them, they are a credit to themselves, their families and the school and it has been a privilege for me to work with such a fantastic group of girls.”
"Our two daughters have had the best start in life thanks to the caring, enthusiastic and hardworking staff of Archbishop Blanch School.
