The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is the UK’s widest reaching youth charity and has helped millions of young people since it was founded 60 years ago. Participation in the award develops young people for life and work. It helps them fulfil their potential and have a brighter future. For many young people, the impact can be life-changing.
Participants are required to commit to develop in four main areas:
Volunteering: From raising money for charity or running an awareness campaign, young people can get out and help others.
Physical: From netball to yoga, swimming to skateboarding, participants take part in a sport, dance or fitness activity, showing improvement over time.
Skills: Participants learn a new skill or develop existing talents.
Expedition: Through planning, training for and completing an outdoor activity, young people develop initiative and a spirit of discovery.
