Since September 2016 our school choir has grown significantly in size and is now over 100 members strong; that’s over 10% of the whole school! As a result we have recently split the choir into two groups giving us a Senior and a Junior choir. Over the past year the choir have had a non-stop programme of events and performances, all of which have contributed the development of the inclusive, nurturing and community ethos of the choir, as well as their reputation across the city.
Since February 2016 Archbishop Blanch Choir have performed at: Disneyland Paris; the Disney Cruise Line Event on the River Mersey; Bishop Paul`s Garden Party; our school’s prize giving and Christmas Carol Concert in the Anglican Cathedral; the Educate Awards; Liverpool 1; and at the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Concert in St George’s Hall, as well as recording a number of traditional carols for the `Christmas Starts with Christ` CD in partnership with Liverpool Diocese.
In February half term the choir went on a two night ABS Performance trip to London where they performed an hour long programme in St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden. Of course they also managed to squeeze in watching Matilda, Les Mis and Wicked, some shopping on Oxford Street and dining at Jamie’s Italian.
Most recently our senior choir entered two choir sections in the city wide Smile competition at Archbishop Beck, and won both individual sections before also going on to win the trophy for the highest overall singing mark of the festival. As a result the choir were then asked to perform at the Smile Together show at the Liverpool Empire Theatre on Sunday 19th March; another huge achievement to add to their ever growing CV!
The student’s love and passion for what they do, coupled with the supportive, family environment they create during rehearsals and performances is the driving force behind their rapidly growing success and list of accomplishments. Follow them on Twitter @ABSPerformance to find out more!
