Cinderella and the Lonely Hearts Club Band
ABSolutely Fab was the verdict of all who attended this hilarious production played to packed audiences.
Miss Josie McGowan (Head of Drama) wrote the play especially for our pupils to celebrate Liverpool in its year as European Capital of Culture. Her idea was to integrate the music of the Beatles into a fairytale and Cinderella seemed an obvious choice.
Set in modern times, the play revolved around poor 'Cinderella' (Megan Turner) a selfless eco-girl trying to achieve her dreams despite her very selfish step-family and 'The Prince' (Aaron Carroll), who is a rising pop star, manipulated by his greedy agent. Miss McGowan said "the main aim was for everyone to enjoy themselves and for the cast, musicians and crew to have a fun, memorable and theatrical time every night."
Enthusiastic audiences sang and clapped along to the brilliant music of the Lonely Hearts Club Band, made up of members from the Music Department and led by Zoya Sharples. It was a magnificent team effort and the loud applause received each night was richly deserved.
