AIMS OF ARCHBISHOP BLANCH
TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE
- As a Christian foundation, we pledge that we will be a community where
students of all races and religions will find safety and respect for
themselves, their families and their traditions.
- We aim to contribute to the spiritual, aesthetic and moral growth of the
pupils as well as to their intellectual and physical development. We seek to
create a caring community where Christian principles and standards are
upheld, and where every individual matters.
- Our aim is to promote a broad culture of excellence and achievement within
a Christian ethos, but with a particular focus on Mathematics, Science and
Technology.
- We are committed to the promotion of equal opportunities for all students,
and will positively pursue, through the curriculum and pastoral programme,
education for racial equality.
- Our aim is to be an active partner in a learning society with our local
schools and community, sharing resources and developing good practice.
AIMS OF THE CURRICULUM
- To encourage an appreciation of traditional Christian values in a modern
educational culture which is scientific, technological and vocational.
- To promote amongst students an understanding of our Christian and cultural
heritage, alongside an appreciation of the pluralist society in which we
live in order to become active and responsible citizens of a rapidly
changing world.
- To nurture a positive attitude towards work and fulfillment of oneself and
others leading to an individual discovering his or her own worth within the
school and the curriculum.
- To instill in students the desire to learn for themselves by fostering
individual growth and development, providing additional support for children
with learning difficulties, and enrichment of gifted children.
- To raise standards of achievement for all students across the ability
range in every subject area and particularly in English, Technology, Science
and Mathematics.
- To raise the participation rate in full time education amongst post 16
students, especially in Science, Mathematics and Technology.
- To encourage a multiplicity of good educational approaches and learning
techniques as suitable to the individual’s needs and enjoyment.
- To provide students with the skills needed to progress into employment,
further training or higher education according to their individual
abilities, aptitude and ambitions; to give students adequate preparation for
the future, whatever it may hold for each individual, and generally to
enable them to master the necessary skills needed by a changing society.
