Welcome to Archbishop Blanch School catering department.
All daily aspects of catering provision within the school are met by the in house catering team.
The Catering Manager and her team provide breakfast, morning break and lunch on a day to day basis.
As you may be aware the new Nutritional Guidelines for schools came into force for Lunch in September 2006 and were made law for all other services at the start of September 2007.
Whilst working within these guidelines in school we hope that we are providing an interesting and varied menu choice alongside tasty nutritious food which our customers will want to eat.
We look forward to seeing you in our restaurant and hope that you will enjoy your eating experience.
If you have any questions regarding the catering provision at Archbishop Blanch please do not hesitate to contact the catering manager at school.
National Healthy Schools Status
We are delighted to announce that school has been awarded National Healthy Schools Status. Congratulations and many thanks go to Mr Jones (Science Teacher and Head of Year 10)..... we received confirmation on Monday, 23rd November 2009 that we had achieved this status - an extremely important recognition of the work carried out by the school to promote healthy lifestyles among the pupils. A tremendous amount of work has to be completed and information collected to meet the standards of the awarding body, and thanks goes to Mr Jones and all the departments and individuals who helped to provide the evidence. Mr Jones and Mrs McElhinney-Samson received the award on behalf of the school at a celebration event in St George's Hall on Thursday, 26th November 2009.
At the start of the September 2007 the school catering facility was brought in house.
We created a new menu concept which met the guidelines and offered improved menu choice across the school day.
As the year progressed we continued to make changes to that offer introducing healthy breaks, salad bars and subway style sandwiches to our menu.
This does not mean to say that some of the old favourites have been replaced never to return, the pasta bar will be back in September.
It was important to create an offer which gave an interesting and varied choice but which also provided the chance for all our customers to eat a balanced and healthy meal.
We have promoted and will continue to promote fresh fruit and vegetables, where possible procured locally, and also continue meeting the criteria necessary for a Healthy School.
We think we have something for everyone but if you feel we have missed something please help us by getting in touch with your comments.
