It gives me great pleasure and pride to introduce you to the unique community of Archbishop Blanch School.
We are a Church of England High School for girls in Years 7 - 11, with a mixed Sixth Form, serving the Diocese of Liverpool, and our Christian values of Community, Compassion, Forgiveness, Friendship, Thanksgiving and Trust permeate every aspect of our life together. Our aim is to develop in our pupils a love of God, an understanding of and respect for the faith and traditions of others, and a real and abiding belief in their own value and self-worth.
Archbishop Blanch School [ABS] is a community based on family principles; the friendly, happy and caring environment is obvious the moment you walk through the door - it is a place where every individual really does matter. We are proud of the special blend of academic success, exciting opportunities and outstanding pastoral care that is ABS. Our examination results make us one of the highest achieving schools in the city; but this is only a part of our success. The school offers a broad, personalised curriculum with a wide range of extra-curricula activities, cultural and enterprise experiences, travel, musical and sporting achievement and opportunities for pupils to make a positive contribution to local and global communities.
There is a real sense of curiosity, creativity and an enjoyment of learning around the school, aided by the support systems we have in place; they give pupils the confidence they need to grow and achieve their potential, whatever that might be. Our genuine commitment to our pupils as they enter the school is to develop the gifts and talents they know about and help them to find those that have not yet been discovered. Watching the pupils develop into well-rounded, honourable and confident young people, equipped to play a rewarding role in an exciting and changing world, is a real privilege.
ABS is one of the first schools in the North West to be awarded three statuses; we have been a Technology College since 1996 and a Training School since 2007. As a High Performing Specialist School we were delighted to be invited to apply for a third specialism and achieved Applied Learning status in April 2009. Our specialisms enable us to offer a wide range of educational experiences and facilities for everyone at ABS and to others in the wider community.
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions parents have to make. No website or prospectus can tell you everything you need to know, or give you a true feeling for a school's atmosphere; this you have to experience for yourself. I hope that you will come and visit me, my dedicated and enthusiastic colleagues and our wonderful pupils at our school events and Open Evenings and Mornings. We look forward to giving you a warm welcome!
